Millharbour Village
Millharbour Village, London E14
Millharbour Village is a large-scale, mixed-use development on the Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf, London E14. The district has gained popularity to become East London’s most desirable living destination, now serviced by the recently launched Elizabeth line (Crossrail). Millharbour Village is part of an outstanding urban regeneration of the historic Canary Wharf docks, which dates to 1980s.
The development is a cluster of six high-performance, high-rise buildings, each with over 30 floors totalling approx. 1,600 homes. To build a real sense of community, the master plan includes comprehensive shared amenities, parks, fitness zones, and even doggy care services. This elaborate urban design is more about creating a lifestyle where residents can have access the outdoors, fitness, and cultural venues in their own neighbourhood, without having to travel to Central London.
Mill Harbour’s six new towers, built in two phases - Millharbour West (608 South Quay) and Millharbour East (3 Mill Harbour), occupy two plots of former industrial docks. One is located south of the South Dock pedestrian bridge, which links the site with the Canary Wharf estate. The other is set west of the Millwall Dock basin and is adjacent to the renowned Pan Peninsula Square.
Designed as an attractive new ‘waterfront village’ with a unique identity, the district will also have two new schools, a community theatre and outside performance space, modern restaurants, shops, cafes, and a variety of richly landscaped open green spaces. Its master plan follows the most recent placemaking objectives and recommendations for the wider Canary Wharf area, which aims to broaden the E14 residential appeal and attract new investors, residents, as well and visitors to the Isle of Dogs. Canary Wharf remains a busy place of commerce, one of the densest built urban locations in the UK, and it is also part of Tower Hamlets, one of the fastest-growing boroughs in London.
The team
Millharbour Village is one of the most ambitious projects to date by the well-established developer Ballymore, who is behind the iconic E14 schemes: Pan Peninsula Square and the Wardian London. The development is estimated to be completed November 2026.
The creative team includes Glenn Howell Architects and Space Hub landscape studio. Glenn Howell is a renowned practice also involved in a pending mega ‘E14 greening’ masterplan sponsored by the Canary Wharf Group, a large urban project which will transform most of the public realm and waterways on the Isle of Dogs.
Space Hub designed the rich landscaping of Millharbour Village, which follows the ‘extended home’ master plan concept by providing a rich tapestry of sustainable and flexible communal outdoor spaces for cultural, retail, and educational purposes. There will be over 200 trees, a new park, and large swathes of bio-diverse ecological habitats throughout the development. The development will also provide direct access to the Millharbour Village waterfront.
Mill Harbour properties
Millharbour Village offers a wide range of apartment types all providing flexible living and contemporary, high-specification and light-filled interiors. The private accommodation is designed as ‘customisable’ giving owners a choice based on their preferences and changing needs. Every apartment has its own outdoor space access to a wealth of shared amenities, including swimming pools, gyms, screening rooms and coworking spaces.
Local Area
The development sits in a 20-hectare zone known as the Millennium Quarter, with an easy walk (0.5 miles) of Canary Wharf’s offices, shops, bars and restaurants. DLR, London Underground and Elizabeth line (Crossrail) stations connect Millharbour Village into London’s core transport network.
Recent residential schemes completed south of the development are Harbour Central with Maine Tower, Lincolns Plaza and Indescon Square, Lanterns Court and Ability Place. To the north of Mill Harbour is the well-established residential district of Poplar. Across the River Thames to the south and east is the London Borough of Greenwich.
Transport
Mill Harbour is only four kilometres from the City of London, and enjoys excellent public transport links and services through Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs, including:
· River bus (Canary Wharf pier, Masthouse Terrace pier)
· DLR (West India Quay, Canary Wharf, Herron Quay, South Quay, Crossharbour, Mudchute, Island Gardens)
