Private balcony and terrace move up on renters priority wish list
A private balcony or terrace in a contemporary apartment design has always ranked high on the list of priorities by modern urban renters, but the lockdown spring this year has further increased the value of these features.
A recent survey data by Badi quoted by Property Wire has found that ‘three in five (60%) renters would be willing to pay more for a flat with a terrace or balcony after the lockdown period.’
The early pandemic guidelines restricting travels and movements reduced our living habitat to our homes and a few miles around it. In such times the outdoor apartment space, especially in a city dwelling, became more valuable, almost priceless.
Proved to help combat loneliness and improve residents’ mental health, a private balcony or terrace is space offering an opportunity to reconnect with the outside world, expand the living territory, get the healthy daily dose sunlight or engage in a creative growing project.
Here are some inner London city balconies, featuring in new build homes across the Capital, and selected for their size, view and overall wellbeing appeal.
Arena Tower, Canary Wharf E14
Not just exceptionally spacious and with uninterrupted panoramic views, these curvaceous balconies are designed as the outer ring skirtings around this handsome tower which shift to the right by a nominal degree, thus providing the much needed solar shading and cover for each balcony and the floor level below. For the best London sunset or sunrise check out the apartments on higher floors.
