UK house price growth 

 

The average house prices in the UK increased by 1.4% in the year to April 2019, down from 1.6% in March 2019. There has been a general slowdown in UK house price growth over the last three years which is explained mainly by a slowdown in the south and east of England.  

The average UK house price was £229,000 in April 2019 which is £3,000 higher than in April 2018. 

On a seasonally adjusted basis, average house prices in the UK decreased by 0.2% between March 2019 and April 2019. 

The lowest annual price growth was in London, where prices fell by 1.2% over the year to April 2019, up from a fall of 2.5% in March 2019.

 

 

England 

 

The highest house prices in the UK are still in England with strongest growth in the North of England and the Midlands have the strongest growth, while London house prices have fallen over the year since March 2018. The average house price in England stands now at £245,000.

 

 

London 

 

Still the most expensive place to buy a property which currently, on average, costs £472,000.

The annual price change by London borough data shows that Barking and Dagenham, Greenwich, Hackney and Hounslow are London boroughs with the most considerable house prices growth. 

Looking at data for April 2019, Kensington and Chelsea is still the most expensive place to buy a house which, on average, costs £1.3 million. 

Barking and Dagenham is the cheapest borough to purchase a house which on average costs

£299,000.
