One Park Drive E14
One of the most remarkable new buildings in Canary Wharf, One Park Drive skyscraper forms part of the landmark dockside Wood Wharf development. Attention grabbing for its unique cylindrical shape which contrasts the rest of the immediate neighbourhood, this residential development is work by the Swiss architecture studio Herzog & de Meuron. Developed by Canary Wharf Group and completed in 2021, the tower is a statement building in a large urban master plan covering the eastern section of the estate, which is dedicated to the E14 residential expansion.
One Park Drive has a commanding position on the South Dock and dominates the new cluster of modern rectangular waterside buildings. It stands at the head of the dock and is the first building seen upon crossing the pedestrian Montgomery Bridge, which links Jubilee Place and park with Wood Wharf.
One Park Drive Apartments
The tower has 484 luxury apartments, is 205 meters tall and comprises four distinctive building sections. The building is designed to have the appearance of a cylindrical tower, but most of its apartments have regular straight edges. The rounded lowest two floors contain the entrance lobby, lunge and cinema on the ground floor followed by a gym and swimming pool set on the first floor. Above this are 56 floors of apartments with seven large duplex penthouses at the very top of the building. ‘The lowest nine floors have rounded floor plates with large apartments that extend out onto curved external balconies.’ Studio, one and two-bed apartments are set across 22 upper floors followed by 25 levels of large properties with ‘curved external walls that are twisted to create external balconies.’ The apartments’ design maximises light, waterside setting and views of South Dock, Canary Wharf and the River Thames. The interiors are bespoke and contemporary by Goddard Littlefair, Bowler James Brindley and G.A Group. All properties have underfloor heating and comfort cooling. Double height terraces feature on the upper floors (Bay apartments) and large wrap-around balconies extend the interiors on the lover lever (Loft apartments). ‘Each terrace is naturally sheltered within the building’s form yet connects you with the views beyond’. In the middle is the ‘Cluster’ – a section with a large variety of dwellings.
Luxury residential amenities include 24-hour concierge services, access to a library, cinema room, lounge, and health club which incorporate a 20-metre pool, gym, studio space, spa and sauna.
Location and transport
One Park Drive is located a stroll from Jubilee Gardens, Canary Wharf Underground Station and Montgomery Square. It occupies the most prominent waterside location in this north/ eastern corner of Canary Wharf. It rises on the edge of the Sough Dock of which it has uninterrupted views. Together with several other residential buildings, One Park Drive forms a new E14 urban district rich with amenities and outdoor spaces. The site plans incorporate a primary school, doctor’s surgery, its own high street with boutique arcades and artisan shops, boardwalks, and new parks. Due to its proximity to excellent transport options from Canary Wharf, the district has limited car access and prioritises pedestrian movement.
Canary Wharf maintains its position as a global business hub and home to banking, finance, technology, media and entertainment ventures.
Jubilee Line, DLR, Crossrail, Thames River Bus and Canary Wharf local bus services provide quick journeys into central London, the City, Stratford and Greenwich, and can all be reached on foot. The upcoming Crossrail (Elizabeth Line) will provide rapid, high speed rail journeys from the Estate to the City (6-min), the West End (13-min) and to Heathrow (39-min).
