Croydon
Croydon is a large urban area, covering approx. 37 square miles along the southern edges of the Capital. It is the biggest economic hub outside London with the fast growing new homes developments, retail, restaurant and nightlife scene making the town an attractive living, working and investing Greater London location.
The most recent, modern new homes’ developments are in the town centre and nearby two large railway stations: East and West Croydon. Period architecture dominates Croydon’s suburbs, which is a testimony to the popularity the town had in mid-19 century as a venue for London’s Victorian society.
The Croydon Opportunity Area is designated as a Growth Area in the London Plan. The future development is detailed in six masterplans for East Croydon, West Croydon, Mid Croydon, College Green, Wellesley Road, and Old Town.
Croydon is exceptionally well connected with Central London and south-east England. There are many train routes linking Croydon with the beautiful south coast and countryside from North Downs down to Brighton and Hove. Croydon is close to the M25 London Orbital motorway and to London Gatwick airport.
Croydon borough has several attractive parks, and the best know probably is Wandle Park. Restored in 2012, this is an attractive oasis close to town centre with a river Wandle running through it. A substantial recreation ground forms Park Hill park which is set between East and South Croydon Rail stations. The biggest park in the borough is Lloyd Park, a large open green space with cross country running routes and some of the oldest trees in Croydon.
